Introduction to Taormina - Outskirts
Taormina is a coastal resort town along the eastern edge of Sicily. Since the 19th century, tourists have been flocking to this amazing corner of Sicily to bask in the glorious sunshine and magnificent culture that awaits. Visitors are greeted by ancient Roman sites and beautiful beaches upon arrival to the town. However, the central part of town isn't the only place worth visiting. The outer area holds many important attractions and landmarks. Of course, tours of the world famous Mount Etna, which is less than 35kms to the southwest of the city, can be embarked on from most Taormina hotels. Exploring the volcanic mountain can usually only be done with a guide. In addition to the magnificent volcanic mountain, the outskirts of the city contain various wineries that are excellent places for wine lovers and wine connoisseurs. For spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and the city of Taormina, visitors should hike up Castelmola, just 10kms to the west.other spellings: taorminahotels, taorminar otel, taormena hotell, taromina hote, taomina hotes
