Introduction to South Sardinia - Barumini
Italy's island of Sardinia is one of the best places to explore both ancient civilisation and the bounty of natural beauty so common throughout the Mediterranean. In South Sardinia, the town of Barumini has both these bases fully covered, with lovely undeveloped swaths of hilly woodlands and UNESCO World Heritage sites. The undisputed highlight here is the Bronze Age cluster of Nuraghe buildings located on top of a small hill on the edge of the village. This is the most important archaeological site on the whole island and should be slowly explored over a half day or more. Dating to 1470 BC, it's a marvelous piece of ancient history. The Museum of Casa Zapata is a great venue to learn about the details of daily life in this settlement. The village of Barumini is also quite old, but offers visitors more than enough modern amenities to warrant a stay in one of the quaint Barumini hotels in the town centre. other spellings: baruminihotels, barumeni otel, barumini hotell, baramini hote, buromini hotes
