Introduction to South Sardinia - Arborea
The tiny agricultural town of Arborea is found along the western coast of South Sardinia, and was named for the medieval kingdom that once spanned the entire island. Its streets were built on former marshes, now a rich and fertile land that stretches out to the Gulf of Oristano and grows much of the region's delicious fruit and vegetables. Festivals are held in Arborea twice a year to celebrate the height of the strawberry and polenta seasons. There are a number of beautiful beaches along the gulf, lapped by the warm waters of the Sardinian Sea. Arborea hotels are found in a central location, making them ideal for exploring this side of the island. At the top of the bay is the Sinis peninsula, where tourists can visit the town of Cabras and walk through the ancient city of Tharros. During the first weekend of September, visitors should make their way to the village of San Salvatore, where thousands of men donning white will run barefoot through the streets, carrying a religious statue that once instigated an ancient feud.other spellings: arboreahotels, arberea otel, arborea hotell, arborea hote, arbore hotle
