Introduction to South Sardinia - Arbatax
The hamlet of Arbatax, famous for its seafood, is found east of Tortoli, on a pretty peninsula along the northeast coast of South Sardinia. Its port is used by ferries travelling across the Tyrrhenian Sea, and mussels and fresh fish are farmed from the waters and served in local restaurants. The old tourist train known as the Trenino Verde passes along the coast and into the surrounding mountains of Supramonte. Tourists staying in Arbatax hotels will love this picturesque community, from its great Spanish Tower to the vibrant red cliffs rising up from the sea and backing the beach of Rocce Rosse. A host of beach harbours are found in the area, including Cala Sisine, Cala Goloritze and Cala Luna. Hidden within a bare mountain is the ancient village of Tiscali, preserving a glimpse of life from 2000 years ago. For those hoping to escape the bustling Sardinian cities on the north and south ends of the island, the peaceful Ogliastra region and its breathtaking landscapes and centuries-old olive trees will simply delight. other spellings: arbataxhotels, arbartax otel, arbatex hotell, abatax hote, arpatax hotes
