Introduction to Siracusa - Brucoli
The village of Brucoli is, for most of the year, a quiet fishing community, until the patron saint of Saint Nicholas is celebrated in the last weekend of July. At this time, Brucoli hotels are bursting with guests attending the festival's boat procession; during this event, an image of the saint is thrown into the water. The highlight of a visit for travellers who come at other times of the year is the Norman castle which occupies the headland's tip. The 15th century structure offers wonderful views out to sea and across the harbour, which is also a pleasant place to stroll. Brucoli is connected to other Sicilian destinations by the Catania-Siracusa rail line, but services are infrequent. The nearest city of note, also on the island's east coast, is Syracuse, referred to locally as Siracusa. Here, a well-preserved historic centre, as well as the ancient city of Neopolis with its Greek theatre, awaits visitors. other spellings: brucolihotels, brucoli otel, bruccoli hotell, hotein brocoli, brucolli hotes
