Introduction to Sciacca, Italy
The historic city of Sciacca sits on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and boasts a well-preserved medieval ambiance. It can be found on the southwestern coastline of Sicily, in the stunning province of Agrigento. More than 40,000 people live within the city. The beautiful landscape and historic atmosphere attract thousands of tourists every year, making it one of the most important areas of tourism for the island of Sicily. The city rests on the E931, which connects to the main expressway through Sicily, the E90. One of the most important points of interest is the Cathedral of Maria SS del Soccorso, which was erected in the 12th century, but rebuilt several centuries later. The Church of St Michel is another important religious structure in the city. It is not as old as the cathedral, having been built in the 13th century. Another important site in the settlement is Palazzo Tagliavia, one of the oldest medieval attractions in the city. The 19th century palace was built in the neo-Gothic style. Sciacca hotels are found throughout the medieval streets of the city.other spellings: sciaccahotels, sciaca hotell, scaicca otel, hote sciecca, hotelin sciacca
