Introduction to Sapri, Italy
Sapri is a town in the Italian province of Salerno, in the southwestern Campania region. It is a port town in between Basilicata and Campania on the Tyrrhenian Sea, and has a population of just over 7,000 inhabitants. Sapri is a picturesque little town with a beautiful surrounding landscape of hills covered by trees and dominating the inlet of the Gulf of Policastro. It is a popular tourist destination during the summer months due to its beautiful beach and calm sea which provides excellent swimming conditions. Sapri was built up around its fishing trade and there are several recommended restaurants which serve tasty seafood to be found on the main road which runs along the seafront. Many of these restaurants close during the winter when the town becomes deserted of tourists. Sapri hotels are spread out across the town, with some overlooking the sea and others located in the town centre.
