Introduction to Rome - Tivoli
Tivoli is a city found some 30kms from the heart of Italy's capital city. It is situated in the region of Lazio, and is home to more than 50,000 inhabitants. There are a few attractions to enjoy when visiting the city. Even though most travellers who visit the city only do so as a daytrip from Rome, there are plenty of Tivoli hotels to choose from, including some spectacular bed and breakfasts. One of the main attractions in the town is Hadrian's Villa, which is one of the oldest, largest and most magnificent Roman villas still standing in Italy. Another popular place to visit is Villa d'Este, which is actually a World Heritage listed site. The gardens, fountains and terraced parks on this site were once degraded, but have since been restored by the government to almost their original state. Getting to the city of Tivoli is remarkably easy by car or train as international travellers must pass through Rome first.Visit our Rome Travel Guide
