Introduction to Rome - Ciampino Airport
One of the main gateways to the city of Rome is Ciampino Airport, less than 10 miles southeast of the city centre. It is secondary to Rome’s other international airport, Fiumicino, and serves mostly low-cost flights to European cities. From Ciampino Airport hotels, visitors can easily explore some of the best sites in the surrounding area while still having the option to head for central Rome and its landmark attractions such as the Roman Forum. The E80 Euroroute, several major roads and nearby railway stations link the suburb with the centre, but there are no direct rail links at the airport. Yet Ciampino’s two rail stations as well as Capannelle Station serve the area along with buses and taxis. Fantastic walks through history and nature can be enjoyed at the nearby Appia Antica Regional Park, which contains many acres of greenery along the Roman Appian Way. Visit our Rome Travel Guide
