Introduction to Rimini - Cervia
Each summer, the seaside community of Cervia transforms from a quiet town to a bustling beach resort with the arrival of tourists. Most budget Cervia hotels are situated in the city centre, while more luxurious options line the local beach, known as Milano Marittima. This picturesque city less than 30kms north of Rimini, on Italy's east coast, is particularly popular among German tourists. A salt museum and the St Michael Tower, within easy cycling or walking distance of each other, lie on the banks of the canal linking Milano Marittima and the city centre. Cafés fill the buildings of Piazza Garibaldi, the main city square and host of the Town Hall (Palazzo Comunale) and the 1702 Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral. A small park stands next to the cathedral. Most of the local beaches, collectively called Il Mare, are privately owned. Milano Marittima boasts the city's liveliest nightlife and best boutique shopping. Deer and birds are among the wildlife found in the adjacent nature park.
