The lobby is incredibly luxurious even if slightly smaller than one would expect. The combination of soft red carpets and subdued lighting from antique lamps, offer a relaxed and very homely atmosphere. There is a bar situated at one end of the reception area, serving a variety of drinks and snacks.

This building is older than most of those in the square, built around the 19th century. It is a very impressive, regal looking building giving the impression that it was formerly an aristocratic home perhaps for one of Florence's many rich noble families.
