Introduction to Porto San Giorgio, Italy
Overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the coastal town of Porto San Giorgio is found in the province of Fermo, in the region of Marche, central Italy. Boasting a moderate sized population of about 16,000 citizens, the town is connected to other parts of Italy primarily via the Ancona-Pescara railway line. However, it also rests upon the E55 highway, which travels along the coastal route of the Adriatic Sea. The town gets its name from its patron saint, Saint George. One of the main areas in the town is the port, which is not only home to a number of Porto San Giorgio hotels, but also many restaurants and an atmosphere to die for. One of the most important landmarks in the town is the Bonaparte Villa, which boasts a beautiful mansion and park which was once owned by Girolamo Bonaparte (Napoleon's younger brother). In addition, the 12th century fortress, called Rocca Tiepolo, is a renovated highlight of the town.
