Introduction to Porto Recanati, Italy
Porto Recanati is a seaside town in central Italy. The seafront is completely pedestrianised and its colourful buildings make this a lovely place to take a peaceful stroll. The sandy beach is eight kilometres in length and is a perfect place for swimming and sun-bathing. The beach offers fantastic views of Mount Carino. The town boasts a large number of historic buildings and quaint squares. Swabian Castle was built in the 13th century and is an imposing feature of Porto Ricanate. There is an archaeological museum inside the castle. San Giovanni Battista is the oldest church in the city, at over 200 years old, and built in the neo-Classical style. The church has a beautiful Baroque interior. There are a good range of wonderful Porto Recanati hotels located close to the seafront and in the Old Town. The many excellent restaurants in Porto Recanati serve traditional Italian dishes, fresh fish and quality Italian wines. Bars are located along the seafront as well as in the old quarter where it is possible to drink beer and wine while sitting outside and watching the world go by.
