Despite being home to fewer than 100,000 people, the Italian city of Pisa has long been famous around the world for its wealth of art, culture, history and architecture. Without a doubt, the biggest reason for the city’s fame and the primary attraction for many visitors is the Leaning Tower. Hotels in Cisanello are only about 10 minutes to the east of the Piazza dei Miracoli, in which the tower is located, along with the city’s great cathedral, the baptistery, and several other great attractions that comprise this famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. A few minutes farther to the west is the city’s main railway station, Pisa Centrale. Another notable square, the Piazza dei Cavalieri, contains several important buildings, and is just south of the Piazza dei Miracoli. Several beautiful riverside streets can also be found in this area. Those to the south of Cisanello offer beautiful walks through tree-lined avenues. Follow this far enough to the west, however, and you reach ancient streets lined by many attractive historic buildings, often lit up beautifully at night.
