Introduction to Pescara - City Centre
In the centre of Italy is the beautiful city of Perugia, the capital of the Umbria region. Best known for its art, and the many artists that have come out of the city, the city offers attractions such as the National Gallery of Umbria, the impressive Fontana Maggiore (a fountain) and the Etruscan Arch (a gate). There is a good mixture of hotels in Perugia to suit people of all tastes and of any budget. The unfinished Cathedral of San Lorenzo, dating to the 15th century, dominates the historic centre, which is best toured on foot. Other buildings of note in the area include the remarkable Town Hall, constructed in the Gothic style in the 14th century. For a glimpse of the city in medieval times, visitors can walk 'Undergound Perugia', a now underground part of the city that has been preserved since medieval times.
