Introduction to Palestrina, Italy
The town of Palestrina is a medium sized commune situated less than 40kms east of the majestic capital of Italy, Rome. Boasting a population of about 18,000 inhabitants, the commune is a beautiful and extremely historical settlement that has been inhabited since the 7th century. The town's terraced streets, historical importance and relative closeness to the city of Rome make it a popular base for travellers. Visitors will certainly be able to find Palestrina hotels for accommodation purposes. The town was heavily bombed by Allied forces during WWII, but this actually lead to the re-surfacing of the commune's greatest known attraction, the ruins of the Temple of Fortune. Another main site in town is Colonne Castle, which stands atop the main hill within the town. There is also an intriguing set of ruins found below the ruins of the Fortune Temple from the Church of Saint Agapitus. Finally, the Renaissance Barberini Palace is home to the main archaeological museum of the township.other spellings: hotelspalestrina, paletrina hotel, palstrina otel, hotell palestrina, palastrina otel
