Oristano is an inland city on the island of Sardinia. The city is a hub for local commerce and sustains mostly on fishing and agriculture, although recently it has been growing as a tourist destination. The city itself has several historical sites of interest to offer visitors including The Tower of St. Christophoros, The Church of St. Francis of Assisi, as well as several other smaller churches and museums. Oristano hotels range in price from high-end to low-cost guesthouses. Although the city itself does not sit directly on the water, Oristano is not far from Torre Grande Beach, which is a famous tourist destination. Many tourists will opt to stay on the waterfront hotels and make day trips into the city centre. Hotels in Oristano are also available but are not within walking distance to the beach. In summer months the beach resorts accommodate up to 20,000 visitors and hotels in Oristano tend to become booked quickly if not reserved ahead of time. The Piazzo Roma is the central point for the town and also a hub for fine dining, great local shopping and vibrant festivities during the evening hours.
