Looking across the Strait of Bonofacio in Northern Sardinia is the quaint and historic, tourist-friendly town of Santa Teresa di Gallura. This formerly fishing-dependent village now boasts primarily modern architecture as well as the warm and inviting beach of Rena Bianca, highlighted by turquoise waters and silver boulders. The town itself offers plenty of opportunities for eating, drinking and shopping in addition to a good selection of Santa Teresa di Gallura hotels. Aside from the renowned beaches, nearby attractions include the mysterious Su Monte 'e s'Ape, also known as the Tomb of Giants, which is among the largest of the many similar Bronze Age monuments scattered throughout Sardinia. The tomb features evocatively arranged stone structures whose origins remain a mystery to archaeologists. There's also the Longosardo tower, a medieval looking circular stone building set on a lovely portion of the coast, where visitors can take in the full panoramic splendour of the surrounding sea and hills.
