Introduction to Nettuno, Italy
Nettuno, named after the Roman god of the sea, Neptune, is a popular beach resort located on the Mediterranean Sea, about 60kms south of the Italian capital, Rome. Since its founding by Saracen invaders in the 9th century, the town has grown into a busy tourist destination, primarily due to its marine attractions. The main draw is the fantastic beachfront, which goes on for miles along a gently sloping bay. Tourists staying at hotels in Nettuno are typically fond of the vibrant nightlife. Tourism benefits from the excellent transport links, with Rome being just one stop away on the Anzio train. Rome's Ciampino Airport can be reached by road in just one hour. The town's medieval quarter contains many interesting buildings. The 15th-century Fort San Gallo sits by the sea, right next to the large, modern marina. The old quarter stretches away to the east from here and looks onto the marina. The focal point is Piazza Guglielmo Marconi. Beautifully lit at night, the square is dominated by the parish church of San Giovanni. The beautiful Fountain of the God Neptune is just around the corner and should not be missed.other spellings: nettunohotels, otelin netuno, hotell nattuno, natuno hote, hotes in nittuno
