Introduction to Monza, Italy
The northern Italian city of Monza lies on the banks of the River Lambro, just 15kms north of the mega-city of Milan, and is famed for its Grand Prix motor racing circuit. It is the capital of Monza and Brianza Province, and is inundated with tourists every year at the time of the race. Apart from the fast car fraternity, visitors to the city also enjoy the attractive old buildings in the city centre and Monza Park, one of the largest urban green spaces in Europe. The area was settled during the Bronze Age, it was important to the Romans and it was conquered by the Lombards during the medieval era. Nowadays, business travellers to the city's textile and publishing industries as well as tourists stay in the many Monza hotels. The city is famed for its glorious 12th century Romanesque-Gothic Basilica of St John, set overlooking the main square in the Old City. Several other beautiful medieval churches are here along with the 14th century Arengario, the civil palace. On the banks of the river in Monzo Park lies Villa Reale, a royal villa constructed for Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. other spellings: nomzahotels, momza otel, monaz hotell, mozna hote, mnoza hotes, omnza hotle
