Introduction to Milan - Malpensa
The district of Malpensa is found some 40kms northwest of Milan’s downtown area, yet it is one of the most important areas for tourism in this northern Italian city. This is because the district is home to the largest airport serving the city, Milan Malpensa International Airport. Most Malpensa hotels are designed to accommodate travellers staying for just a night or two. The district is too far from the heart of Milan for it to be a convenient option for sightseers, but it is close enough for those on layovers to visit Milan, with its world-class museums and Duomo, as a daytrip. The airport is connected to the city centre by express train (40 minutes), highway, bus and taxi. A number of airlines serve the airport, including low-cost airline EasyJet.
