Introduction to Messina - Castel di Tusa
The largest outdoor collection of contemporary art sculptures in all of Europe stands in the unique Sicilian resort village of Castel di Tusa. This picturesque community stands 600m above sea level on Sicily's northeast shore, 120kms west of the city of Messina and 80kms east of the island's biggest city, Palermo. One of the most unique Castel di Tusa hotels is the world's only art museum hotel. Visitors from all over come here to admire the eight controversial sculptures that stand along the coastline, known as the 'Art River'. Most beaches here are rocky and pebbly, but fabulous walking trails await visitors in the Nebrodi and Madonie mountain ranges which flank the community at both ends. The community's tallest building is the majestic castle which shares its name and from which visitors can see the Aeolian Islands during clear and sunny days. An ancient Greek village called Halaesa stands halfway between the coastline and the main village. other spellings: castel di tusahotels, castle di tusa otel, castel tusa hotell, hotein casteldi tursa
