Introduction to Messina - Acquedolci
Named after the freshwater springs nearby, the Italian town of Acquedolci is located along the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in Sicily's Messina region, which runs along the north of the island just off of the mainland. Acquedolci can be found off Motorway E90, around 85kms west of Messina town, and has a stunning backdrop of the Nebrodi Mountains. The town is not big, but is very beautiful and some spectacular holiday photographs can be taken here. There are some great Acquedolci hotels that vary in price and offer stunning views of either the sea or the mountains. There are also plenty of eateries, including a fantastic pizzeria, and some great shopping can be had in the town's outlets and boutiques. The San Teodoro Cave is a popular attraction in Acquedolci, as is the Antiquarian Hall, and both should be seen while visiting here. Also, a must is the 17th century castle that was built here to protect the Sicilian coast.
