Introduction to Massa Carrara, Italy
The Tuscan province of Massa and Carrara lies in dramatically scenic northern Italy and was named Massa-Carrara after its two main towns prior to 2009, with Massa its provincial capital. Enclosed within the province are many picturesque traditional villages and little urban centres, with the famous sparkling white Carrara marble as well as tourism the main sources of revenue in the region. The capital, Massa, lies along the coast of the Tyrenian Sea, backed by the mountains, and is a hub for the manufacture of traditional crafts, as is its twin town, Carrara.
