Hotel Description
St Francis of Assisi founded the Luna Convento Hotel, Amalfi, as one of Italy’s medieval monastery and convent in 1222. Today, weddings are still conducted at the tiny private chapel belonging to this historic coastal property 200m from the city centre. The once Spartan monks’ cells have been transformed into comfortable, unique, and luxurious guest rooms. One suite is situated in a 16th century watchtower originally built to defend the Bay of Amalfi from pirate attacks. The same watchtower now houses one of the property’s 2 restaurants, while the other restaurant overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. The sea can also be accessed from the wide terrace leading to the piano bar. A solarium stands close to the seawater swimming pool. The municipal museum, cathedral, main beach, cloister of paradise, and ancient arsenals are all less than 500m away from this old landmark.
