Introduction to Gubbio - City Centre
One of Italy's most ancient and picturesque small cities, Gubbio offers numerous limestone monuments and loads of fascinating architecture from the Gothic, Renaissance and medieval periods. The city is just 25 miles from Peugia, in the northern portion of Umbria, and sits on amid the slope of Mt Ingino. In the centre of town are numerous historical attractions including Piazza Grande, which is the main town square and offers unmatched views of Mt Ingino and the surrounding countryside. There's also Palazzo dei Consoli, an immense Gothic limestone structure dating back to the 14th century, set conveniently adjacent to several Gubbio City Centre hotels. Here visitors can view the famed set of bronze plaques known as the Eugubine tablets, which are more than 2,000 years old and feature ancient Umbrian writing. There's also the 13th century church known as the Duomo, boasting enchanting stained glass windows and a carved throne, as well as the Ranghiasci-Brancaleoni Park, which offers scenic English gardens and a quaint covered bridge.other spellings: gubbiohotels, gubio otel, gubboi hotell, hote in gubbio, hotle in gubio hotles
