Located close to the southern end of Sardinia, the town of Fluminimaggiore is popular with the relatively small number of visitors who can tear themselves away from the island's coastal attractions.

The town enjoys some special attractions.

Perhaps the most impressive of these is the eight-kilometre long Su Mannau Caves complex, where visitors generally stand open-mouthed while they stare at the incredible formations in these big underground caverns.

The ruins of the Temple of Antas are another big draw.

The main temple has been partially reconstructed at the site, which is a few miles south of the town.

As well as the caves and ruins, hotels in Fluminimaggiore afford the chance to enjoy a range of beaches and scenic coastal areas less than 30 minutes to the east.

The Domusnovas area, about 40 minutes away, is popular with hikers and mountain climbers.

The big town of Iglesias, about 30 minutes to the south, offers many modern amenities as well as further tourist attractions including a cathedral and a castle.
