Introduction to Florence - Palazzo Strozzi
Located on the north bank of the River Arno, Florence, the Palazzo Strozzi is a well-known palace which was completed in the 1500s, after nearly 50 years of construction. It is one of the city’s finest pieces of Renaissance architecture and nowadays hosts a contemporary art exhibition. Guests staying nearby have easy access to Via de’ Tornabuoni, a famous street which faces the palace. This street is one of the most upmarket shopping streets in the city, featuring high-end boutiques owned by some of the world’s best-known designers. The palace is also just 400m from Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral, also known as the Duomo. Visitors can climb the 464 steps to the cathedral’s dome for some of the best panoramic views of Florence. Around 100m west of the palace, a museum dedicated to the sculptor Marino Marini is located in the former San Pancrazio church.
