Introduction to Florence - Palazzo Pitti
The Palazzo Pitti, Florence, is one of the most-famous art galleries in the world. It is located on the south bank of the River Arno, in a quiet part of the city where Palazzo Pitti hotels offer guests the chance to escape the crowds experienced in more touristy districts. In the palace itself, the Medici family has left behind an array of artworks and treasures that will delight visitors. Backing the palace, the Boboli Gardens is a great place for a romantic stroll, affording fantastic views of Florence and its surrounding countryside. Visitors can rest at the scenic hillside cafe or continue exploring the adjacent Bardini Gardens. The Bardini Gardens offers one of the best views of the Duomo, the city’s iconic cathedral. Similar views can be enjoyed from Michelangelo Square, around one kilometre east of the palace. It is a good idea to climb the steps to the square both during the day and at night, in order to get a different perspective on this amazing city.Visit our Florence Travel Guide
