Introduction to Florence - Bagno a Ripoli
The Italian municipality of Bagno a Ripoli lies just seven kilometres from the unbeatable tourist destination of Florence, on the south bank of the River Arno. This Tuscan community is a convenient jumping-off point for sightseers who want to be close to Florence's attractions yet away from the busy centre. Its primary bus stop sits on Via Roma, a major thoroughfare which features Seaworld Aquarium as well as a number of Bagno a Ripoli hotels. This route, also known as SP1, connects with the historical heart of Florence where tourist spots like Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and the Duomo await. The Uffizi, home to Botticelli's Birth of Venus among other masterpieces, is widely considered one of the globe's best art museums. Ponte Vecchio, along which shops of up to four storeys in height sit, is the city's oldest bridge. The Renaissance Duomo, officially known as Santa Maria del Fiore, is easily recognised by its huge Brunelleschi-designed dome. These sights and more are within a 15-minute taxi ride of Bagno a Ripoli. Visit our Florence Travel Guide
