The island of Filicudi is found in the Tyrrhenian Sea, and is one of eight volcanic islands just to the north of Sicily. The archipelago chain, known as the Aeolian Islands, is located some 50kms from the Sicilian mainland. Getting from the island to the mainland area of Sicily, mainland Italy or even other islands in the Aeolian chain is only possible via a ferry service which ports in the southeastern area of the island. Most Filicudi hotels are located in the southeastern part of the island too, as this is where the villages of the island are situated. The most important sites on the island are located in the national park area, which constitutes a major part of the island. The highest point on the island of Filicudi is Monte Fossa Felci, which stands at about 700 metres high. It can be climbed or at least climbed part of the way. Another site of interest is the Bronze Age village at Cape Graziano.
