Introduction to Ferrara, Italy
Ferrara is a large, culturally important city located at the top of the Italian Peninsula. It is on the east side of the peninsula midway between Venice and Bologna. Ferrara is circled by mediaeval walls which contain a good choice of Ferrara hotels. The Ferrara hotels in the old city are close to the landmark Estense Castle, which features tall towers and is ringed by a defensive moat. There are some four star Ferrara hotels which together with the many two and three star establishments, and some hostels and bed and breakfasts offer travellers a good choice of accommodation. Not all of the buildings in the old city are ancient, but the ones still standing are magnificent. Popular sights are the 12th century Romanesque cathedral and the Palazzo dei Diamanti, which contains the National Gallery. Ferrara boasts many palaces, dating from the 15th century, and churches. Most of the city’s attractions can be easily walked to from Ferrara hotels. Ferrara is a hub for local train services. The A13 motorway passes the western edge of Ferrara.other spellings: ferrarahotels, ferara otel, ferara hotell, ferara hote, ferrara hotles
