Introduction to Ferrara - City Centre
Ferrara is the capital of the province of the same name in northern Italy. Home to some beautiful Renaissance buildings, the city is a history and architecture lover’s dream and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Hotels in Ferrara allow easy access to the historic city centre. Many of the buildings lining the city’s elegant street are architecturally beautiful or historically significant. Located along the banks of the River Po, Ferrara City Centre also has plenty of lush countryside within reach. The national Art Gallery can be found in the Renaissance Palace in the Plazzo dei Diamanti. It houses plenty of fine examples of why this city is often thought of as one of the most traditionally artistic places in Italy. Recently, the works of none other than Chagall, Monet, Dali and Miro have been housed here. The stately Este Castle is also worth a visit, as is the facade of the cathedral and the Plazzo Schiafanoia.
