Introduction to Dolomites, Italy
The Dolomites mountain range sits at the northeast end of Italy, where it spans across the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino and Belluno, sitting on the borders with Austria and Switzerland. The majority of people here speak German, and visitors will notice that menus, signs and various media are provided in two or even three languages. The key attraction of the area is the stunning alpine scenery. From Dolomites hotels, visitors can easily enjoy the Tyrolean culture as well as a huge range of natural attractions. In the winter, tourists head for ski resorts like Rocca Pietore, Alleghe, Auronzoe, Arabba and San Martino di Castrozza. In the summer, hiking, climbing, base jumping and hang gliding are among the favoured activities, though families may prefer to enjoy gentle walks or picnics in the parks, such as Dolomiti Bellunesi, Panaveggio and Puez-Geisler. This is, however, a vast region, with many more peaks, passes and parks to discover. The closest major airport, at Venice, is about 2 hours, 30 minutes away.other spellings: dolomiteshotels, dolomite otel, hotell dolomitys, dolontes hote, hotle in dolomites
