Introduction to Cefalu - Castelbuono
As its name suggests, the town of Castelbuono is centred around the impressive 14th century castle that dominates its highest point. With its Arab-Norman style, the castle is one of the finest in Sicily and a popular tourist attraction with day-trippers. The adjoining Palace Chapel is another highlight worth checking out for the bounty of precious stonework, holy relics and historic friezes on display inside. The town of Castelbuono is draped over the slopes of the hill on which the castle sits, in a web of narrow streets that provides hours of wandering. This isn't a huge town, but its compact area holds a surprising number of shops and cafés that are worth a look. A single road connects the town to the northern coast of Sicily, where the main city in the area, Cefalu, is located. While the castle town is easily accessible by car for a fun daytrip, there are also several Castelbuono hotels on hand for those who feel to urge to linger. other spellings: castel buono otel, castebuono hotell, castelbuano hote, castelbouno hotles
