Introduction to Catania - Cannizzaro
Just along the Sicilian coast from Catania is the tiny seaside community of Cannizzaro. Although it's well off the standard tourist circuit on Sicily, the town offers travellers seeking a long, quiet holiday on the beach plenty of relaxation. There are a handful of regular Cannizzaro hotels near the sea as well as private villas and self-catering apartments to rent. The town is just minutes from Catania by car so it's easy to stock up on supplies and get a dose of entertainment, though Cannizzaro itself has a smattering of restaurants and shops. Just to the north is Aci Castello, another charming seaside town that is well worth exploring. Its Norman castle that juts out into the sea offers an excellent glimpse into the Norman colonisation of Sicily around the year 1100. Built entirely from black volcanic rock, the castle is unique. Also nearby is the sprawling Complesso Immacolatella Nature Reserve, where visitors can hike, bike and enjoy a forested environment.other spellings: cannizaro otel, cannicaro hotell, canizaro hote, cannizzero hotles, canizzaro hotle
