Bolzano is a city in the German speaking South Tyrol region of northern Italy, close to the Austrian border. Bolzano is in a valley, in the Alps, at the confluence of two rivers. Bolzano is a large city with several parts. The old town (Alt Stadt) holds most of the town’s tourist sights and a good selection of Bolzano hotels and dining establishments. The heart of the Alt Stadt is Walther Square (Waltherplatz) and it is ringed by stately buildings, and contains imposing statues and caf terraces all set against a background of majestic mountains.
