Bordering the municipality of Assisi, Bastia Umbra in Italy's Perugia is a community of around 20,000 surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty. Divided by the Chiascio River, the municipality is mostly visited by tourists for its 13th century Church of Santa Croce. This pink-and-white stone structure has a Gothic facade dating from the first half of the 14th century. To the northwest of the town and offering flights to Brussels, Milan and Tirana, lies Perugia San Egidio Airport. The SS75 runs to the south of town and connects with the E45 to the west. Bastia Umbra hotels are often used by visitors to nearby Assisi and Monte Subasio Park, 10kms and 15kms to the east respectively. The medieval town of Assisi draws artists, history buffs and pilgrims alike with its 13th century Basilica of San Francesco. The many piazzas in the town offer further churches of interest.
