Introduction to Agropoli, Italy
The coastal town of Agropoli, Italy is frequently called the gateway to the nation's Cilento coast. Although most Agropoli hotels can be found near the town's modern harbour, its fascinating history provides many other popular attractions. An ancient castle called Angevin-Aragonese stands on top of the foundations of an even older Byzantine structure from the 6th century. Agropoli's other significant historic attraction is the ruins where a monastery called San Francesco used to stand in medieval times. San Francesco is also the name of one of the town's most important churches as well as a tower which has overlooked the Tyrrhenian Sea coast since the 16th century. Other significant local churches include San Marco and the Holy Mary of Constantinople, while most nearby beaches can be found on Trentova Bay, an officially designated Blue Flag location. Archaeological artefacts dating between prehistoric and medieval times are exhibited inside the municipal antiquarian. The liveliest day of the year here is the 29th June, a day to honour St Paul and St Peter.other spellings: agropolihotels, agropoly otel, hotellin agropole, agopoli hote, hotes in agropolie
