| Overview & Introduction to Tel Aviv |

With a history of only 100 years, Tel Aviv is the first Jewish city of the modern era and features no holy sites within its city limits. There’s much less of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish culture here and it’s considered by many to be Israel’s ‘fun zone.’
Stretching along the coast of the Mediterranean, Tel Aviv enjoys pleasant weather year-round, with very little rain. It boasts beautiful beaches, great food, lively entertainment options, upscale shopping and exotic markets. There are also a number of museums here for visitors who are interested in Jewish history and several excellent art galleries as well.
Although the city’s appearance can be sleek and modern, it is part of a strong cultural tradition and it is important for visitors to respect the importance of Jewish traditions, which may at times seem quite conservative. It is recommended that women dress modestly, and that all visitors be aware of and prepared for the Shabbat system of business schedules and opening times.
