Nazareth Travel Guide - Activities

Eating out: all types of Arab cuisine are on offer in Nazareth. Time is taken with meals here and there is a long-standing local tradition of making restaurant guests feel welcomed and comfortable. If you’re interested in a more international menu, there’s a restaurant located right behind Mary's Well offering up fusion cuisine.
Shopping: the streets forming the main market area are entered from Casa Nova, and are narrow, very crowded with shoppers and make for quite an exotic experience. Tin-roofed shops line the streets, and offer up everything from ram's horns to fine jewellery, chandeliers, leather goods, plastic house wares and even cakes.
The square nearby is the site of the famous Greek Orthodox church, St Gabriel’s, where according to Christian belief, Mary received news from the angel Gabriel that she would give birth to Jesus Christ (the Annunciation).
When you leave the church, if you walk along the Pilgrim’s Path you’ll come to the impressive Mascobia building, built in 1904 for the benefit of Russian pilgrims. Further along the Path, on Street 6098 you’ll come to Bishop’s Square. Continuing along the same street, you’ll come to an alley that’s named Sebat Qa’war.
