Nightlife: there is a vibrant nightlife mainly centred around the Talpiot area and in West Jerusalem. Dress code is strict and prices tend to be high. Many locals prefer to travel the short distance to Tel Aviv, where there is more on offer.
The diverse culture means that there is a good choice of food on offer, with some of the best Arab and Jewish cuisine. Influences stretch from North Africa, the Mediterranean through to the Middle East.
Football: is the city’s main sport. The two major teams are the red Hapoel Jerusalem FC and the yellow Beitar Jerusalem FC. Both teams have won the national cup with Beitar currently in the premier league and Hapoel in the second league. Basketball has also grown in popularity and the Hapoel team won the European ULEB cup in 2004. Visitors can watch the matches at the Strauss Arena.
