Haifa Travel Guide - Activities

Beaches: one of Haifa's best-kept secrets is its beaches. Starting at Bat Galim, the beaches continue along south to the broader and even lovelier Dado and Zamir beaches. The miles of golden sand beaches feature simple, but adequate changing facilities and beach cafes.
Even during the winter months there is at least one restaurant pavilion that stays open until early evening. Locals love the beach, swimming in the warm turquoise waters and staying by the sea until sunset - watching the sun go down over the Mediterranean and finishing the day off with a simple meal at one of the nearby beach cafes.
Beit oren: is a horse ranch that offers riding lessons for beginners and horseback tours following a variety of routes on Mount Carmel for those with more experience. The ranch is located near the Kibbutz Beit Oren junction.
Eating out: a number of eateries around Haifa offer reasonably-priced, but tasty Middle-eastern fare. There are falafel counters and Arabic restaurants, the majority of which can be found in the lower city’s port area. Schwarma, the local Turkish variation of a kebab cooked on a spit, is also quite popular.
Shopping: a few modern indoor malls are to be found in Haifa, including the Horev Centre, the Migdal Haneve'im in Hadar and the Panorama Centre in central Carmel.
The Panorama Centre is the most easily accessible by public transportation and is popular with visitors staying in Carmel centre: branches of several of Israel’s best women's clothing stores are featured here. For browsing or window-shopping, Herzl and Nordau streets are interesting.
