There are also plenty of less strenuous activities to enjoy, such as day trips to the nearby mountains of Hizkiyahu, Merech and Yoash, where you can revel in the spectacular scenery of the area, from many observation points.
At the Timna Valley Nature Reserve, rare flora and fauna are waiting to be discovered and if you’re more interested in the underwater varieties of animal and plant life, Dolphin Reef is a great place to enjoy a dive with friendly sea mammals. Another option, and one offering an even different perspective, is the desert scenery that is found inland at Solomon’s Pillars.
The Reef Tanks, the Turtle and Stingray Pool and the Underwater Observatories all add to the experience and the popularity of this special park. Once back at your hotel, you can relax by the beach and raise a glass to toast the sunset at one of the many bars, cafes and pubs by the sea. Accommodation is quite luxurious overall and the nightlife is exciting, centred round a good selection of clubs and discos.
Visitors coming from overseas can make ongoing air connection to Eilat from Tel Aviv’s International Airport; and from other cities in Israel, including Jerusalem, Eilat can be reached by shuttle service as well as regularly-scheduled bus service.
