Eilat offers a range of menus from reasonably-priced Israeli and Asian cuisine, to pasta places and on up the scale to gourmet eateries that include Italian and French options. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes are served everywhere, as are fish and seafood in a number of restaurants.
Local cuisine
Eilat, as you might imagine, boasts fabulous seafood as well as traditional Israeli cuisine and foods from around the world. Jewish cuisine reflects the influence of many cultures of the European, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions and the requirements of strict dietary kosher laws. Some of the most popular dishes include couscous, falafel, humus and shishlik.
Blintzes are a Jewish style of crepes, filled with a wide variety of possibilities, such as sweetened cottage cheese, mashed potatoes and onion or as a dessert, with fruits including apples, cherries or blueberries.
The main promenade here is lined with stylish restaurants that are frequented by both tourists and locals, boasting some of the finest cuisine to be found in the country, prepared by a number of Israel's master chefs.
For a quick bite, Mall Hayam, which is Eilat's largest shopping mall, has a good food court featuring a fine selection of local foods, such as falafel and shwarma. The food court has an outdoor area, from which you can enjoy great views overlooking the beach.
