Lying on the northwestern side of the Sea of Galilee, just over a mile from the shoreline, Vered Hagalil is a small Israeli settlement that began life as a simple ranch but has since expanded into a fully fledged tourism resort. The main activity here is horseback riding, with lessons available and expeditions for those that feel confident enough to ride in and around the Sea of Galilee shoreline, one of the lowest places on the Earth. This also a great base from which to take walks in the surrounding countryside, and there are jeep trips for those who want to get around more easily. Fresh fruit is a speciality in Vered Hagalil, and visitors can even pick their own at the right time of year. Vered Hagalil hotels are in short supply given this is a settlement built around a ranch, now a resort itself, although in the wider area there are numerous accommodation options.
