Introduction to Mashabei Sadeh, Israel

Located in the very centre of Israel, in the Negev Desert, Mashabei Sadeh is a small village directly south of the city of Beersheba, based around a kibbutz. Traditionally, the village is an agricultural settlement which specialises in breeding shrimps using a developed aquaculture method despite the harsh desert climate. The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, including wolves and vultures, among numerous other species, making it ideal for walking and nature trips. From here, it is possible to arrange trips to nearby Shivta, a Roman-era town, and Nitzana Well, which dates back to the Byzantine period. Relaxation is one of the main pastimes here courtesy of a hot spring in the desert, around which a health resort has been developed in recent years, offering a number of treatments that make full use of the local water. Mashabei Sadeh hotels are few in number and generally based around the original kibbutz set-up.
