Situated on the southern shore of the Sea of Galilee in the north of Israel, Maagan is a small kibbutz village with plenty to offer holidaymakers to the area. With its low population and serene atmosphere, the town makes a quieter, more low-key destination than much larger Tiberias to the northwest, the main resort town on the Galilee coastline. The town is surrounded by countryside and there is a beach here as well as other facilities including swimming pools and children's play areas, making it popular with families. Its great location at the southern end of the Sea of Galilee means it is easily accessible from Israel's large cities further south and therefore a good base for exploring the surrounding area with its excellent walks and many biblical sites linked to the life of Jesus. Maagan hotels consist mainly of kibbutz accommodation in the centre of the village.
