Introduction to Dead Sea - Ein Bokek
The Dead Sea is located in eastern Israel. The resort along its coast is known as Ein Bokek. The beauty and also natural healing qualities of the Dead Sea attracts visitors from all over the world, plus there are also plenty of other great sites nearby that are worth exploring. Dead Sea hotels allow access to the nearby Zohar Hot Springs, which both international tourists and locals flock to on a daily basis. Also within reach is the Mountaintop Fortress at Massada National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was transformed into a three tiered winter home in 35 BC by the notorious King Herod. Those in Ein Bokek between April and October should also be sure to catch the Masada Sound and Light Show, which is performed in a unique natural, impressive amphitheatre, sited on the west of Masada Mountain. Spectators are treated to a 40 minute pyrotechnics display which documents the dramatic history of the area. A visit to see the caves where the Dead Sea Biblical Scrolls were discovered are worth considering visiting.Visit our Dead Sea Travel Guide
