Introduction to Dead Sea - Almog
This unique holiday experience is a stay in a traditional kibbutz-with-a-twist along the northwestern shores of the Dead Sea. The Israeli settlement of Almog offers visitors a glimpse into one of the typical agricultural communities found across the country. Its iconic plus is a spa and museum filled with scrolls found in Qumran, the famous archaeological site located in the nearby caves. Qumran National Park is set close to the kibbutz, offering an in-depth look at the oldest biblical documents ever found. Built in what was originally a Nahal settlement for Israeli soldiers, Almog hotels are now surrounded by every amenity needed to make a holiday on the West Bank complete. The oasis lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, surrounded by countless religious sites and relics set at the lowest point on Earth. Visitors can float effortlessly in the salty Dead Sea and rub down every limb with the sea's therapeutic mud, then visit the mountaintop fortress of Masada and roam its beautiful National Park. Further south along the sea is Ein Gedi, home to another oasis, a nature reserve and a popular kibbutz.Visit our Dead Sea Travel Guide
